Hannah Sylvester
A qualified and registered Medical Herbalist since 2010, seasoned public speaker, nature educator and podcaster, I love sharinng my passion for wild flowers, trees and medicinal plants.
Quite often, I’m rekindling already-known knowledge that people may have simply forgotten about, and often, it’s sowing seeds of inspiration for people to make more contact with nature. Either way, I like to keep my talks interactive, and in addition to using a projector to share images of what I’m speaking about, I usually bring plenty of props, and interesting examples of plants to pass around the room for a fully sensory experience. Depending on time of year, and facilites available at a venue, I can also provdide fresh herb tea for attendees to sample.
I have a long history of working collaboratively with providing talks with schools, local interest groups, charities and corporate organisations, educating people about the botany and how nature can help our health and wellbeing, in addition to lecturing and programme leading at degree level, to train the next generation of Medical Herbalists. I have presented well over a hundred talks in the last 12 years, including speaking at the prestigiousTedX Brayford Pool in Lincoln, in 2022, a talk which is available for viewing online, and various conferences.
In June 2021, I launched a brand new nature podcast, Edge of the Hedge. Which takes the listener on an audio journey with me, guiding people on awaking the senses, and making connection with the nature that surrounds us through field recordings and interviews with guests who find inspiration by spending time with nature.
